How does it work?

Prior to your travel plans A Pet’s Choice schedules an initial interview that lasts an average of 45 minutes.
This meeting is free of charge.
The following is what you can expect at the initial visit:
· The number one reason, above all, is for all of us to get to know each other. In order to have a positive pet sitting experience, it is crucial that both animals and owners are comfortable with us and that we will also feel comfortable caring for your pets in your absence.
· We will go over daily routine. Our goal as your caregiver is to provide your pets with love, attention and care that
they are accustomed to when you are with them.
· A Pet’s Choice will ask that you fill out the necessary paperwork, which includes,
· Your pets schedules, habits (good or bad), minor health problems they may have.
Honesty is most important and we will discuss detailed information on any medications or supplements
as well as your desires in case of an unforeseen emergency.
· You will need to sign a Veterinarian Authorization allowing us to transport them to your veterinarian’s office for care
or in the case of large animals, request on-site treatment.
· Details of the security of property. Such as turning on and off certain lights, opening and closing of curtains or blinds,
leaving on a TV or radio, bringing in newspapers and mail, adjusting air or heat etc.
· Watering of indoor or potted plants
· We will go over any ‘hiding places’ that your animals may have, especially those kittens.
· Complete service agreement and figure actual cost of pet care while your away
· Emergency contact numbers so we can get a hold of you while gone
· Please have an extra key on hand. If you do not have one, have one made. The keys will be tested to ensure that they are operable.
Planning Ahead:

When booking A Pet’s Choice services, please plan at least two weeks prior, especially for the holidays or long weekends. This is a first come first served bases. It is best to use the ready key program, where keys will be safely kept by A Pet’s Choice. That way, once established as a client, whether it is occasional or steady, we will be ready to go when needed.
Please purchase extra food, litter, medication, supplements, and supplies in the event that you may stay longer than anticipated.
Prepare your home before you leave:

Make certain the kitchen; tack/feed room is left in order with clean bowls/buckets and feeding supplies.
Leave no trash in the home. Please be sue that all trash is properly disposed of and covered so no animal can get in to it.
Everything needed for the care of your animals should be kept in one general area such as food,
leashes, lead ropes, scoops, supplements and especially medications.
Pets do react to a piece of clothing that was recently worn, so if possible, leave something to remind them of you.
If our service begins with a later evening visit, please leave proper lighting for the safety of both animals and pet sitter.
Taking these few steps will ensure an overall positive experience.
